First Nations Law Scholarship

Ngalaya and Colin Biggers & Paisley

$5,000 awarded to a passionate and committed Indigenous law student.

The Ngalaya and Colin Biggers & Paisley First Nations Law Scholarship is available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander law students studying in NSW and the ACT. The scholarship was established in 2021 by Ngalaya, and is funded by Colin Biggers & Paisley

Benefits and  criteria

Scholarship benefits

  • once-off $5,000 payment;

  • opportunity to participate in Colin Biggers & Paisley training + professional development; and

  • mentoring support provided by Ngalaya

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander; and

  • enrolled in a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor at a tertiary institution in NSW or the ACT.

Assessment criteria

Applicants will be assessed based on their:

  • demonstrated commitment to First Nations justice;

  • demonstrated involvement in community-focused work;

  • potential to advance First Nations' interests throughout their legal career; and

  • financial need.
