ANU Law School Entry Requirements
If you’re a high school leaver or haven’t been to university before, an undergraduate Bachelor of Laws is for you. University graduates can study a postgraduate Juris Doctor degree. To learn more about the different types of law degrees, see our Law Degrees Explained page.
High school leavers can apply through UAC to study a 4-year Bachelor of Laws or a 5-year Combined Bachelor of Laws with majors from Arts, Business, Social Sciences or Science faculties.Â
High school leavers are assessed based on their ATAR. The 2020 ATAR cut off for both the single and double law degrees was 98.Â
Applicants with higher degrees are assessed based on their academic performance, or their ATAR if completed less than one year before the degree.Â
First Nations students are eligible for priority admission if they meet the admission requirements and declare their Indigenous heritage.Â
Mature age students can apply to study a Bachelor of Laws by applying to UAC.Â
Alternative entry
ANU law school does not offer an alternative entry program for First Nations students. However, First Nations high school leavers may be awarded bonus ATAR points. For information about how to apply for adjustment factors, visit the ANU law school website here.
Students who have completed a year of tertiary study and are affected by circumstances beyond their control may be eligible for special consideration as entry into their chosen degree.Â
Mature age First Nations applicants may be eligible for the ANU special adult entry scheme.
University graduates can apply for a Juris Doctor at ANU law school through UAC. Applications are assessed based on students’ performance in their undergraduate degree(s).Â
There is not an alternative entry program for First Nations students.
High school leavers applying to study at ANU through UAC should follow the important dates outlined by UAC. On the UAC website, students can find the dates of all open days for universities in NSW, as well as the application deadlines.Â
Students applying to study at ANU law school directly can find key dates, such as application deadlines and offer releases, on the ANU website here.
Studying law at ANU law school
