James Cook University Law School

James Cook University (JCU) offers undergraduate law degrees through the Faculty of Business, Law and Finance at their Townsville and Cairns campuses and online. 

If you’re a high school leaver or have not been to university before, an undergraduate Bachelor of Laws is for you.

Undergraduate degrees at SCU

JCU offers the following undergraduate law degrees:

SCU operates on a 2 semester calendar. A full-time study load is 4 subjects per semester (8 per year).

High school leavers can apply for a single or combined Bachelor of Laws directly through QTAC.

High school leavers are assessed based on their ATAR.

The 2021 ATAR cut off for the single Bachelor of Laws was 75.7. The 2021 ATAR cut off for the Combined Bachelor of Laws programs was 66.5. 

The Tertiary Access Course (TAC) is a pathway course for mature age students. 

The JCU Summer School and Winter School are intensive preparation programs open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students in Year 10, 11 and 12. 

The Tertiary Access Course (TAC) is a pathway course for students who do not have an ATAR score. 

Students can also complete a 1-year Diploma of Higher Education. Successful completion of the court can assist students with entry into a Bachelor of Laws degree. 

JCU does not offer PLT.
