Swinburne University of Technology (Swinburne) offers undergraduate and postgraduate law degrees through the Swinburne Law School at their Hawthorn campus.Â
Swinburne Law School Entry Requirements
If you’re a high school leaver or haven’t been to university before, an undergraduate Bachelor of Laws is for you. University graduates can study a postgraduate Juris Doctor degree. To learn more about the different types of law degrees, see our Law Degrees Explained page.
Year 12 EntryÂ
High school leavers can apply through VTAC to study a 4-year Bachelor of Laws or a 5-year Combined Bachelor of Laws with majors from  Arts, Business, Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Criminal Justice and Criminology, Engineering, Media and Communication, or Science.
High school leavers are assessed based on their ATAR. The 2021 ATAR cut off for the single and double degrees were 85.Â
Recent graduates & Mature Age
Applicants with higher non-law degrees can apply for a Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) through VTAC.Â
Mature age students can apply to study a Bachelor of Laws by applying directly through Swinburne here.
Alternative entry
Students can apply for the Early Entry Program into Swinburne University of Technology. Please note that the applications for the 2022 Early Entry are now closed.Â
Students can also undertake a Pathway Course as an alternative entry pathway into a Bachelor of Laws.Â
There is no pathway program specifically for First Nations students.
Masters of Laws (Research)
Students can apply for a 2-years Masters of Law (Research) directly through Swinburne. Learn more about the application process here.
There is not an alternative entry program for First Nations students.
Doctor of Philosophy (Law)
Students can apply to study a 3-4 year Doctor of Philosophy (Law) directly through Swinburne Law School.
Studying law at Swinburne
Swinburne operates on a two semester calendar. A full-time study load is 8 subjects per year. Students can also enrol in a part time study load, which is 4 subjects per year.Â
