The University of South Australia (UniSA) offers both undergraduate and postgraduate law degrees through the South Australia Law School (SALS) at their City West campus.
UniSA Law School Entry Requirements
If you’re a high school leaver or haven’t been to university before, an undergraduate Bachelor of Laws is for you. University graduates can study a postgraduate Juris Doctor degree. To learn more about the different types of law degrees, see our Law Degrees Explained page.
High school leavers can apply to study a standalone or combined Bachelor of Laws (Honours) at University of South Australia through SATAC. Students are assessed based on their ATAR, and the Law Admission Test. The 2021 ATAR cut-off was 88.05.
Mature age students can apply to study a Bachelor of Laws by undertaking the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) through SATAC.
Alternative entryÂ
University of South Australia offers alternative entry programs for First Nations students. These include:
- The Aboriginal Admission Scheme – applicants apply through SATAC and the UniSA application portal to the Wirringka Indigenous Unit for an admissions panel review. On successful review, applicants will attend a interview with the panel and receive an undergraduate offer to successful applicants.
- Aboriginal Pathway Program – one-and-a-half-year program aimed at preparing Indigenous students for university study. On successful completion of the program your attained GPA can be used to apply for further UniSA studies.
University graduates can apply to study a Juris Doctor at University of South Australia through SATAC. Applications are assessed based on previous study and personal educational and economic circumstances.
There is no alternative entry program for First Nations students.
Studying law at UniSA law school
UniSA operates on a two-semester calendar with an optional Summer term. A full-time study load is 6 – 8 subjects per year.
