Professor Kevin Williams receives Ngalaya Lifetime Achievement Award

Wakka Wakka and Gungarri man and Adjunct Professor of Law, Uncle Kevin Williams, was recognised with a special Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 Ngalaya Ball and First Nations Law Awards.
Ngalaya's Executive Director, Jason O'Neil, announced this surprise award as an important opportunity to pay respect to Uncle Kevin's longstanding commitments as a staunch advocate for our people.

Kevin Williams was instrumental in the founding of Ngalaya in 1997 with Cal Martin, and served as Ngalaya's first Chair. Before that, he was instrumental in the establishment of the Indigenous Pre-Law Program at UNSW Law. He continues to mentor young Indigenous students to this day, through his work at the University of the Sunshine Coast and CareerTrackers.
For over 25 years Uncle Kevin has worked to advance Indigenous legal education, advocacy and law reform. Recently, he was the lead author and editor of Indigenous Peoples in the High Court: Cases and Commentary , examining 389 High Court cases involving Indigenous peoples since 1903.
