Sharleigh Crittenden

Chairperson

Sharleigh is a Wiradjuri woman from Central West NSW, with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Criminology and Bachelor of Laws from UNSW Sydney. Shar is a legal researcher and fiction writer. She previously worked as the Faculty Research Cadet at UNSW Law & Justice.


In 2023 she co-authored the AIJA Report The Australian Jury in Black & White: Barriers to Indigenous representation on juries with Professor Jill Hunter. She was also named the First Nations Senior Law Student of the Year at the 2023 Ngalaya Ball.


Shar's short story ‘River Fish’ won the inaugural First Nations Storytelling Prize in the Best Australian Yarn 2023. She is passionate about storytelling and about bringing Aboriginal perspectives and voices to literature. She is the recipient of a 2023 Magabala Creative Grant and a 2024 Varuna First Nations Fellowship.
