Reflecting on receiving the award, Associate Professor Watson said: "It is an honour to belong to the community of First Nations lawyers and legal scholars; a community that is making a real difference in a myriad of ways.

On any given day, Blak lawyers will be representing the most marginalised members of our society, championing law reform, and bringing our stories and perspectives into Australia’s law schools. When I reflect on the incredible Indigenous legal scholars whom I have had the privilege of working with, I feel both humbled and privileged.

Thank you Ngalaya for the recognition and thank you LexisNexis for supporting this award."
